So yeah....wow! My time on Maui is REALLY flying by.
Though I can't wait to come back to the mainland and see some of my favorite people and friends I haven't seen in months(it's weird to be without you guys). The truth is though, I've been having so much fun here, I think that's why time seems to go by so much quicker. I only have just under 2 months left here.
Since I've been here, I've learned to surf, snorkel better than I knew I could, grocery shop with a more coupon clipper thrifty attitude, and lose my really bad midwestern accent...lol. I didn't really realize how many people have them until I moved away and then streamed an episode of the news from Green Bay. Needless to say, most news from the media is never good....but I was laughing up a shitstorm listening to the reporter deliver it. I still think pidgen talk here is hilarious too but it rolls of the shoulder without me busting out in laughter now...MOST of the time.

Holy WAH X-mas is here...
Mele Kilikimaka EVERYONE! Christmas and or the Yule is just days away and it couldn't feel less like it...other than recieving the gianoramous parcel I got filled with confetti and Christmas goodies from my parents via snailmail. It's so weird to be in an environment that still makes you refer to the time as "summer", even though it definetly is not....lol. I catch myself all the time.
I love that I can walk around in shorts and a tank in the middle of December! Though the town is now packed with touristas celebrating the holidays on their X-mas vacation. Yesterday I got my photo and video taken of me pouring shave ice(not really anything cool enough to take a picture of unless you REALLY have no concept of snow)and I couldn't help but laugh because I could never imagine doing something like that, even if I was just on a short vacation here. Who takes pictures of snow being put in a cup....PEOPLE THAT LIVE WITHOUT IT! AH....it all makes sense now. So that almost makes it feel more x-massy. That and they paint the town pretty well with decor here.
Yesterday evening I was sitting on our lanai(porch) after I got done with work and 2 kids about 11 and 14 walked through the parking lot. They didn't see me but I watched them and noticed they were eyeing up cars. I'd also taken note that I'd never seen these kids before, they looked like locals, and i know they don't live here......could it be....THE BIKE TIRE THEIVES. So I watched them for a bit. The older one was sort of directing the young one to "grab something" off of someone's moped..you know, making the nieve youngster do his DIRTY DIRTY bidding(cunty little bitchass). The small one then replied..."I can't carry that it's heavy!" Then the older boy looked up and noticed me sitting on the lanai watching him. I had already turned inside and explained what I saw going on to Chris and Matt and they were ready to duck outside and bust these kids. I turned inside after the older kid looked at me and waived for them to go outside. They got out there as these kids dashed away and they followed them up the street. Chris then pretended to call someone(cops)to scare them away for the time being but I'm pretty sure I found the culprits to my lost bike tire.....little pukes. I can't believe some stupid local moronic children cost me $90. and better yet, they probably stole it to buy drugs for themselves or their irresponsible undeserving parents who obviously lack any parenting skills whatsoever if your children are out and about at midnight causing trouble and stealing and they're younger than 14. Seriously...that's effing sad, but they messed with the wrong person and now I'm on to them and I won't get up off until I have REDEMPTION!
So from now on I'm going to sit on our lanai every night after work until 12:30-1 and wait for these little bastards to come back....and I WILL be ready with camera in hand to capture their dirty little faces and get a little well deserved reprimanding thrown down in their little punkass faces by the police. MERRY CHRISTMAS SUCKERS! I CANNOT wait! MUAH HA HA HA. Gotta be pretty effing stupid to come back to the same place twice to steal, I'm pretty sure you'll be a big enough dumbass to do it a third time. Can you say JUVI? Normally I'm a pretty forgiving person but when you are a repeat offender and you keep making the same mistakes over and over and over and costing me my hard earned money... I am going to call you out and possibly sick the dog on you!
On a happier note. We are attending a grand x-mas gathering with all of my work buddies, and Dave at my boss' house. It should be a ding dang of a ho-down! Merry X-mas everyone, down with the HOODLUM SCUM!

Tuning IN...
So....I got reviewed on how I've been doing at my new job today and it went FANTASTIC! I will be on payroll shortly after the first of the new year. Pretty excited! I feel like I caught on pretty quick and the owners have grown to really like me and the feeling is reciprocated. I love working for small businesses....you know, the so-called "mom and pop" shops. Whether it be retail, restaurant or coffee shop. It's so much more fun and you feel like you're part of a family rather than being a number. That and they are a really nice couple in their late 20's so they're pretty easy to relate to as well.
I was lucky enough to stumble across the opportunity after only 5 or so days of being here on the island. Dave(the famous Mr. Ellmann) actually told us about the couple because he had lived with them his first year here in HI. Not 2 days later I was on craiglist just scoping the scene and saw a listing that they were hiring for barrista.....can you say FATE? So the following day I went down and talked with them for a bit, told them about myself and my experience with coffee, kitchen, and service industry and then skeedaddled on back to the condo. Best part...(and this is probably the 3rd time it's happened in my life) I got a call back within the hour to come down that afternoon for an interview.....IN LIKE FLINN!
Went back down and discussed all the usual interview stuff and so I've been on a trial run for the last 2 weeks...(yes it's paid!). Well today the female owner told me that I've caught on much faster than people she's trained in the past year(and believe me she's a completely up-in-your-grill, holy shit back off a little my space bubble is shrinking type of trainer...but I noticed she wasn't all up in my grill the last week) and she'd love to have me there as long as I'm here on Maui. SO COOL. Feelin like family already. I can honestly say I was terrified of having to work some corporate "you're just a number" job when we moved here because there are DOZENS of them here. Starbucks...OMG throw me off of a building. Mc Donalds...rather slit my wrists or get eaten by a barracuda.
I'd rather live on the streets than work for a corporation. So, I currently am the only 1 of us four with a "job" and I feel like I can breathe a little easier now. I still can't believe I scored a non-corporate job though, really makes me feel like the universe knows I couldn't really survive and stay sane in that sort of atmosphere so it's making sure I don't have to....lol. Or I just got lucky.
Either way, I'm doing good here so nobody needs to worry for my safety or well-being. I'm alive, fed, sheltered, loved, and HAPPY! I've found my place on the island and now all I need is for my damn hula hoop to come in the mail...lol. Then life here will be simply blissful. That and a camping trip to Hana is in order....may have to wait a month or two. Well I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving! Aloha for now! <3

ALOHA!
Well it's official. We are here, alive and Oh-so-well in Kehei. We've got a nice little condo perched just 2 blocks from several beaches along the west coast of Maui. It was a little rainy the day we arrived and we had a bit of a thunder/lightning storm which apparently is very rare for this side of the island. It was the first time they had a measurable(very small measure) amount of precipitation in about 2 months. It was pretty neat to see a lightning filled storm in mid-november and have people "WOOOOOOing" on the street after every thunder clap. I guess we take that stuff for granted sometimes in Wisco because we get it pretty often.
Currently we're just finishing settling into our house and getting everything in order that we will need for the next few months. We all scored pretty sweet beach cruiser bikes within the last 2 days for transportation around town....I just can't stop admiring mine. Makes me a little sad I'll have to leave it behind because it's pretty effing cool....photos to come.
Our place is surrounded by plumeria trees and blossoms fall daily for us to collect and put in bowls of water as sweet-smellin center pieces. Not to mention the beautiful hibiscus EVERYWHERE and our cute and delish little orange trees that are around the property.
I do miss the fine folks back home but I'm trying to keep in touch the best I can via facebook and snailmail. The first wind of postcards will be sent out tomorrow so if you don't recieve one, maybe it's because I don't know your address. So until you're ontop of getting that info to me, I can't really be ontop of writing you... The following are some pics of our first couple of days...our first sunset, my first Rambutan fruit(the weird little spikey things, they're so cute in real life I almost want to give them individual names...lol).
Tomorrow we'll be enjoying the packer game at Dave's house in Lahaina. For those of you who don't know Mr. Dave Ellmann, he's our landlord in the summer time and the man who planted the seed in our minds to venture to Hawaii. Hopefully we'll be able to score some Papaya and Coconuts from his yard because they're WAY too expensive at the store. You wouldn't think so being that we live where it's grown but they're weird about pricing local produce and coffee here unless you're at a farmer's market. The grocery stores live to starve people or make them go for broke....weirdoes.
Anyhow...there will be more pictures in the near future. Going to try and update here weekly so forgive me if I fall a bit behind, I might just be having too much fun. Love to all, and a kiss to Wisco! ALOHA!

When one Door closes....
This is it, the final week in the beloved county of Door in 2009. It's hard to believe it blew by so fast. In my experience though, it has seemed to do so more and more every year that goes by. I guess that's what happens when you're enjoying life so much. You don't stop to notice how quickly time dissipates. It can be a good and a bad thing.
I can happily say that I've accomplished much more than I expected to this season. Had much success with sales of my designs in the Brilliant Stranger and as always enjoyed my time working with all the fabulous folk of the Luna. It's nice to go to work and actually LIKE your job. I don't think many people do. Boy do I appreciate that feeling.
Now comes the bittersweet time of year. When the leaves change and fall and people scurry back to their winter holes to hibernate and await the next season. Though this year, I won't be hibernating. I've realized that living in Wisconsin winter is such a dreaded time of year for a lot of people. I myself have never had a winter without snow. So it's time, time for new experiences, new aspirations, new INSPIRATIONS, and scenery to quench the thirst that my constantly metamorphosizing transient soul is craving. Not to say I'm not a creature of comfort(I totally am) but sometimes you have to be displaced and learn to adapt. It's something I used to fear, but then I realized the feeling I felt wasn't fear, just a tad bit of anxiety....and then I realized that nervous churning feeling I had didn't have to be there. I'm human, I'm youthful, resilient, and down right determined....as my mother says "you're young, you'll adjust." Well that's the plan......that is when I feel most alive, when I'm displaced and must adjust....aside from dancing to bluegrass.
I bid the Door adieu...for now. I'll return when the morels start calling my name!See you in the Pacific!
